After spending two years and a lot of money to build a European Villa style home, I found myself one day standing in the massive space with unrest. There was just something missing…something not quite right in my soul.
Don’t get me wrong… The house that we built was incredibly beautiful. It was stable and strong with wood and stones. Those of you that know me, know that I am far from traditional. I search for beauty and that special feeling in something that touches my soul.
I have found that in these dome homes. They are magical. They are sustainable. They are strong. Strong enough to withstand fire, hurricanes and hopefully our Texas tornadoes. You may call me crazy…but, we will be building a starter three dome space for my studio on our beautiful land. At present time, we are still planning a traditional stick home for the main home…but something deep in soul hopes that changes.
In October, we will be headed to Kansas for a workshop with Domegaia to learn how to build these structures from the ground up….with our own hands, and a few other beautiful souls that have volunteered to help us.
Featured in the photos below, is an example of a Dome Home similar to what I want to create for my studio space. This beautiful home is located in Thailand owned by Steve Areen. He and the Domegia team built this in 6 weeks for under $6,000.00
I. Can’t. Wait.
