– Red Ochre –

We went hiking throughout our land and I kept noticing this rock that looked distinctly different in color….almost a purplish red. I started gathering these rocks. Before I knew it, my pockets were full! I brought them home, washed them and started a further inspection. After posting in one of my painting groups, it was determined that these little rocks are RED OCHRE. I am more than excited!!!

I then proceeded to do what any artist would do…crush them and make paint! Here are the results of my gathering pigment off of our land all the way to painting on canvas with this foraged pigment.
