Wild Mountain

– Clearing of the Wild, Day 6, Monday

9.5.22 | Today solely consisted of the continuation of clearing the Ridgeline. The pad is still too wet and needs a day or two to dry out. They are using the excavator along the Ridgeline because the dozer busts up the rocks too much. The rocks are part of the landscape that I love so much. They are trying their best to honor that and preserve as many rocks as possible.

The Ridgeline is beginning to open up beautifully! Being at an elevation of 1200 ft, the breeze is absolutely phenomenal. I love feeling the wind blow over the mountain top.

We are starting to see views that we haven’t been able to see before because of the thick underbrush and trees reaching all the way to the bluff edge. In the pic below, you can see the Cuesta on the left side of the picture. This is the south side of the same Cuesta that our property is on. I am standing at the same level as it, just more toward the west side of the same mountain top. We do not own this….but you can see the elevation much more clearly now that we have cleared our view to the south side. It isn’t my favorite view. Being the painter that I am, I love the West views off of our property of which we do own.

You can see the rain coming from 30 miles away. I just love how you can see the rainfall in this pic.

God gave us a gift to end the day….a beautiful double rainbow.

This is the very busy working railroad at the bottom of the mountain. We had to go down to get gas for the generator. The rainbow over the railroad was incredible. There is just something that I love about this train track!

The rain is greatly appreciated and needed from our summer drought. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. Let’s hope for drier weather to continue the work on the shop pad and my studio pad.

xoxo, Tam
